Personal Statement

College is very important to me so I have set multiple goals and aspirations for myself. I'm not exactly sure what I want to major in, but something involving biology does interest me. I would like to excel academically and athletically. I want to be one of the top students in my class while also being one of the top runners on my team. I would greatly want to run in a NCAA national championship race for cross country, track, or even both.
I believe that I would be a great candidate for any team. I rarely miss any practices for the teams I'm involved in. Even if practice is held over a break for school I still make it a point to be there. For example, during spring break of my sophomore year my track coach had practices almost everyday. I and few others attended each and every one of those practices, riding my bike to practice if my parents couldn't take me. I am also a very hard worker both academically and athletically. In school I take the most challenging classes that I can and work hard and do well in them. I have taken three AP classes already as a sophomore. I do all of the work for my classes and study hard, staying up very late at times to do well on a test. Athletically, I push myself to the limit in races and workouts. I always complete a workout and run it leaving everything on the track every time. I fight in races to keep my spot and pass those who challenge me. I'm not scared at all to run with people I know are faster than me in races and will stay with them and even pass them if I can. My track coach, Corey Hicks, has said that no one will ever out work me.
I have many qualities that set me apart from others. I have many leadership skills that I use everyday. I can empower my team and help them through tough workouts or important races, like State Championships. I have gained many of these skills through Boy Scouts. I have been involved with this organization for many years and I am about to become an Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts. I also have a lot of experience with running. I have been running since seventh grade on both my middle school team and on a club AAU track team. Before high school even started I had plenty of race experience and I had a good running base. Academically I am taking harder classes than most students and do very well in them, always A's or B's. I have taken multiple AP and AICE classes. Also, my school has been ranked 22nd in the country and I'm in the top fifteen percent of my class.
