My name is Peter Peloso, and I am a rising senior at Oak Hall School in Gainesville, Florida. While many consider cross country and track and field to be individual sports, it is through these sports that I have built some of my strongest friendships. I believe that having a solid bond with your team is something that is essential to success in running. By working towards challenging goals with teammates, you can push each other harder and improve your confidence collectively. Once you grow those friendships, the narrative switches from running for yourself to running for your team. This creates a sense of brotherhood that you carry with you in and outside of the sport.
When facing injuries, it is my job to figure out what I can do to recover as quickly as possible. Having spent so much time thinking about recovery has piqued my interest in the human body and anatomy. This is why I’m interested in majoring in Kinesiology.
While running takes up a lot of my time, I never fail to make time to do things I enjoy such as hanging out with friends, playing soccer, or listening to new music. Having balance is key because without it, it’s easy to feel stressed. However, with good discipline and great friendships, running is my favorite thing in the world, and I strive to improve every day.
