Raul Ramirez '13 Recruiting Profile

I started setting my goals right when i started highschool and started to understand and adapt to my new surroundings. A much larger school and new athletics was a good experience, i got see how there was so much competition, not only as an athlete but as a student. As a student, I've been noticing how important it is to get an education. That other students everywhere may want to study what i want to study in college and thats how you fight for a job so it makes it a competitive future. Also, I've been working hard in school, taking honor classes since i was a freshman so my GPA can be high. My goal is to work hard in school so if i dont recieve a scholarship in athletics i can try and get one in academics. As an athlete, i learned how hard work can make such a big difference. I stay dedicated in whatever i put my mind to. My coach always tells that "no matter how hard it gets or how bad you feel do not give up because every one else is feeling the same way you are." So take that to heart. I push myself to whatever mark i want to hit or higher. I've recently i ran my pre-state meet with a time of 16:02, one of my best so far. my My goal is 15:35 my the end of this season. i will work hard everyday to try and hit that. In track i want to graduate with a time of 4:20 or lower in the 1600m and a 1:53 in the 800m. Being an athlete is not just about the talent, i make sure I"m a good role model and keep my grades up. For college i just want to go to the best college that best fits me athletically and academically. And i do not my parents to struggle with college money so i want to help if can. Overall, When i graduate I just want to be remember as a great student athlete that worked hard for anything he wanted to accomplish, was a good friend and good teammate.
