In college, I hope to have a balance between academics and athletics, with academics being on top.
I would like to study Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, as those two subjects have always intrigued me, and I have always been "math-oriented" when it comes to school and classes taken.
I have bonded with my teammates through our love of the sport. They are a key part of my growth within the sport, always pushing me to be the best runner I can, and vice-versa. I have also worked to pay that forward to other kids. Over the summer of 2020, I took the opportunity to help train another school‘s new Cross Country team, have helped pace the top runners in a Middle School XC meet, and am helping our coach with training our Middle School Track team.
When it comes to athletics and academics, I am able to focus with a "tunnel vision" on achieving my goals once I have decided "this is what I want to do." For example, when I finally decided distance running was the sport for me, I doubled-down by beginning year-round training. I have been through ups and downs, including a stress-fracture from October-November of 2020 (fully recovered), but my dedication towards the sport remains the same. Academically, I am beginning to focus on more engineering-focused classes, including taking AP Calculus AB and AP Physics 1 in the 2021-22 academic year.
