My name is David Jimenez and I have been running track for 4 years throughout high school. I first found my love for the sport freshman year after a tramatic experience in my high school which was a school shooting. After I tried out for the team in the spring my love for the sport shot up and is still going up. For the past 4 years of my career, I have been training and lifting non-stop. I became consumed by the hunger of getting better every day. As a Junior and now a Senior on high school, I became a leader in the track team. Although I was not the fastest, I still set an example for a good work ethic, a positive mentality, and a person that my teammates can talk to.
Some atributes that I see in myself than other people in the sport is definately my leadership and drive. No matter the situation nor outcome of practices and meets, I am always a positive factor in the team. My team is always there for me, so I would aways be there for them. My academics always come first. First a student, then an athlete. Throughout the years I have increased the difficulty of my classes. The difficulty went from all standard classes freshman year to taking all AP and Honors classes my senior year. One of my other attributes would be that I am very coachable. As an athlete, I would not be where I am without my coaches. I have great amounts of respect for my coaches since they take time to create a better athlete and citizen for the future. When my coaches tell me to fix or tweak something, I do it right away.
