I fell in love with running after running a 5k in Elementary school and have been running both Cross Country and Track since 6th grade. My goal as a runner is to improve every year, which I had been able to achieve over my 6+ years of running competitively in middle and high school until I experienced an injury early in my junior year Track season. This injury forced a very early end to my season and prevented me from making the time improvements that I was preparing for. I experienced an additional injury due to an accident 1 week prior to the start of my senior cross country season, which kept me out of the first month of competition.
Although these injuries were a major setback to my athletic development they helped me develop mental strength, focus on academics and rehab, and re-enforced my love for the sport. While not able to reach my goals for my junior track or senior cross-country season, I was able to work myself back and have a strong finish to my cross country season. I helped lead my team to a Region Championship and Runner-up finish at the state meet, while also finishing Top 10 as an individual at the state meet.
I feel like I still have a long way to go to reach my full potential as a runner and am looking for a college and coaching that will allow me the opportunity to continue improving and reach that potential, while competing at the highest level and helping my team reach championships. I am also looking for a team that values relationship building. I am looking for a close-knit group where I can develop life long relationships and be a positive influence on my teammates and community.
I plan to major in kinesiology/exercise science and then either work towards a career in Physical Therapy or attend medical school and focus on a career in the Sports Medicine field.
