I’ve been running track since 7th grade, but didn’t begin training seriously until spring 2021. My love for sprints intensified in summer 2021 and I continued to independently train for sprints while joining the school cross country team in fall 2021. Running cross country helped to build my fitness, which led to better times in the 200m and my first 400m race in my junior year. 2022 was a transformational year for me as I was un-defeated in all of my regular league races. I looked forward to a great showing at the Championships, but caught Covid the morning of the league finals and wasn’t cleared to compete until the day before States. I ran as best as I could in spite of being weak and out of shape, and earned 3rd and 4th place medals in the 200m and 100m respectively. I am committed to my sport and look forward to continuing my year-round training and aspire to decrease my times and run to my full potential in my senior year. As I look forward with determination to competing in college, I plan to focus on my 200m and 400m races.
I attend a college preparatory high school in Hawaii and strive to challenge myself in the classroom as well as on the track. By the time I graduate, I will have taken five AP classes and am on track to graduate with Honors. I took both the SAT and ACT in my junior year. My SAT score is in the 98th percentile and my ACT is in the 94th percentile. My academic aspirations for college are to study biology, psychology, or kinesiology with the intention of a career in sports medicine, sports psychology, or physical therapy.
