Personal Statement
Footprints on the Track.
Sport has for the better part of my life, been the most important aspect of my existence. It has taught me the fundamentals in my life, how to be disciplined, how to work within in a team or to work solo and how to handle both success and failure.
My high school incorporated four shared pillars of academics, service, sport and culture. I believe in having a balanced life, both on the field and off. I enjoyed participating in all aspects during my high school career.
Our school motto was “Supera Moras”, translated from Latin as “to overcome difficulties”. I have learned a lot from that, from coming second in a swimming gala to missing my personal best by splits of a second after training the whole season. However, this has taught me to dig deep when the time is needed, not to give up but to push through to the end.
Sport has given me the heart of who I am today, the compass for the direction in my life.
I have learned throughout the years, that life is a difficult path to follow, nothing is ever handed to you, one must work hard, and this is what track and field has taught me. Through my Coaches, Teammates and family, I have always given my best, as I did not want to disappoint. Success comes with hard work, something I will never forget. This has taught me morals, responsibility, motivation and sportsmanship. The key elements to make a success, not only at college but in life too.
I promise that given the opportunity, I will not disappoint you, I will give 110% at every opportunity and make the University and Coaches proud.
I believe I have the character that will delivery excellent results, I only need, someone to give me that opportunity.
