Personal Statement
I have been running since I could walk, is what my mother would tell you, but I have been training for sprints since I was ten years old. I've always loved sprinting and it is my goal to eventually represent my country at international meets. In order to achieve this goal, I need to sprint at the collegiate level, where I would meet other like minded athletes who would push me to be better, stronger, faster.
I am highly coachable and I'm also a team player who assists my coach by leading drills. I will be one of your hardest working sprinters and one of your hardest working recruits if selected by you.
I train hard, Monday to Friday for ten months every year. I do hill training during the off season to help build stamina and endurance and also work on strength and conditioning in the gym. During the competition season, my training switches to speed work and maintaining strength and readiness for meets.
I have also been successful academically at both my CSEC and CAPE examinations. As a result of my academic success I ended my Secondary school career with a GPA of 3.87.
My ideal choice of universities would be one that pushes me in the classroom as well as on the track. I am open to many options and would like to find a place with the right balance of academia and sprint competition so that I can achieve my dream of making my parents and my country proud.
