Personal Statement
I have been a competitive and diligent sportsman for the better part of the last eight years. However, my true and deep passion for athletics sparked only in the last 12 months. Having only recently begun to receive any consistent and substantive coaching or training, I am proud of how far I have come and encouraged by how far I still can go - if given the opportunity. I believe I have much to learn and even more to give and look forward to exploring opportunities in your program.
I attend Epsom College in the United Kingdom, where I am now commencing my final year of studies and have held a coveted sports scholarship all of my four years at the college. Epsom is an academically selective high school with an impressive history of sporting excellence. The school is multi-award winning – including being awarded Best Independent School of the Year 2023. At Epsom, I have represented the school at the highest levels in a range of sports. Outside of school, I am a member of the Epsom & Ewell Harriers – a reputed athletics club through which I participate in numerous county and regional events. Importantly, in recognition of my efforts and modest success to date, I have been selected as part of the England Athletics Youth Talent Program (YTP) – the preeminent athletics development organization for the UK via which Olympic and internationally ranked athletes are selected and developed. The YTP is highly selective and competitive – welcoming only the top 20 qualified athletes in each cohort.

b. Club PB for Long Jump at 6.23M
c. Club PB for Triple Jump at 13.98M (note that I missed out on July/Aug 2024 competition opportunities where I expect to have improved my PB in order to unavoidable family and academic commitments (including preparing for the SATs).
d. Completed in 2 national competitions for Triple Jump (unable to complete the 2nd competition due to a minor injury at the time, but was otherwise expected to medal).
e. County Medals:
i. Indoor Triple Jump Champion 2024;
ii. Outdoor Triple Jump Silver 2024;
iii. Indoor Long Jump Silver 2024;
iv. Outdoor Surrey Schools Bronze 2023
2. Rugby: Played right wing and back row in the school’s A team for 3 successive years; I leveraged speed, agility and stamina to drive success for my team.
3. Track: 100M, 200M and 4x100M events at the intra-school and external competitive levels.
4. Basketball: Played in the school’s U18 1st team.
I am equally proud of my academic achievements while maintaining my intense practice and competition schedules. The UK has 2 marquee academic assessments for high school students – the GCSE and the A-Levels.
1. At the GCSE, I achieved 8 A* grades (including English, Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry); 2 A grades (Spanish and PE); and 1 B grade (Further Mathematics) – equating to 3.99 US GPA.
2. At A-Levels, I am enrolled in intellectually challenging courses (Politics, Economics and Mathematics) with predicted grades of 2 As and 1 B – equating to a 3.7 US GPA.
My decision to leave home and family to pursue my academic and athletics development in the United States is further evidence of my unwavering commitment to growth and excellence. This decision was further cemented by the time I spent in residence at the Spire Academy track & field camp I attended for two weeks in Geneva, Ohio during the summer of 2024. At Spire, I got a glimpse of how far I can go with focused training of the kind your program offers.
