Personal Statement
Joining Sevenoaks School changed my life, my academic abilities were challenged as was my sport. I entered the school unsure as to “the sport for me” yet within a year I found a sport that I loved and enjoyed, Athletics. Throughout this challenging period my confidence grew as did my knowledge aiding my development.
I chose athletics because of its elegantly simplistic yet superiorly challenging nature, it fascinated me from the second I stepped on a track. My progress has been substantial from year to year with dramatically quicker times each season ever fuelling my desire to advance, to learn and succeed. I believe this drive is the reason to my progress.
I have always viewed both my academics and sport as paramount and have never compromised on either. I believe my sport and education will only realise my greatest aspirations if I appreciate that I have to earn the right to enjoy them. Through hard work, commitment and support I continue to strive for greatness in both regards.
My academic goals are clear, achieving the highest grades I can in both GCSE’s this summer and the SAT’s next year. Last summer competing against boys a year older than myself in the county (state) schools championships I came 3rd narrowly missing 2nd in the 200m final. This demonstrated the standards I need to achieve and surpass and I am determined to realise that goal this year.
I look forward to the pleasure of meeting new coaches and developing international ties. With the ultimate aim of studying at and competing for an American University.
