Personal Statement

Hi I'm Nathan, I have participated in the sport of track and field since the 7th grade and I have developed a passion for the sport. Track and field has taught me many lessons; discipline, overcoming adversity and mental toughness. These lessons have not only impacted me in my athletic endeavors, but academically as well, they have also made me into a better student and I have found that it has made more dedicated to my studies. I am very excited to see what this next chapter holds for me and also what opportunities track and field can open up to me. Some of my goals that I would like to achieve in the foreseeable future include significantly extending my personal bests, being accepted to a well rounded college on a scholarship, entering an engineering program and subsequently becoming an engineer. I am thrilled to see what this next chapter holds in store and I look forward to the greatness that will result.

Training

  • Long Jump
  • 7 years
  • 2019: I was ranked 4th overall in the country for the class 3 long jump however I placed 9th at the boys Champs, I had suffered a back injury the week before the competition which may have affected my performance. 2020: Boys and Girls Champs was canceled due to the covid 19 pandemic, I believe however that I would have had a good showing at the competition based on training performances up to 2 weeks before the competition. 2021: I opened the season with my current PB of 6.57 meters. However around 3 weeks champs I suffered a knee injury due to a bad hyperextension which left me inactive for a while. 2022: I started training as per usual in September but stopped in January to focus on my CSEC examinations which I took later that year. 2023: I was training well but as the season came around shin problems and a back injury left me with lackluster results. 2024: Training has been going well and I am free of any pain and niggles and am looking to greatly improve on 6.57 meters.
