Personal Statement
Personal profile:
I am a passionate student athlete who has consistently achieved academic and athletic success. I live in Northwest London and have fully embraced the athletic culture around me. I am a down-to-earth and hardworking athlete who will tackle any challenge to achieve my goals; specifically, to become the greatest T38 100-metre and 200-metre sprinter of all time and break records. I am a goal-oriented individual with a positive attitude. I am strongly committed to expanding my athletic knowledge and ability. I am willing to train however many hours, however hard and however long to reach my goals and to do this, I will need a great team behind me. Anything is possible and I mean anything if you just work overtime ad hard for it. My dream was always to become the fastest man in the world. Multiple sclerosis struck me and slowed down the process but didnt stop it. It's like recovering from injury, it takes time to recover but one day you will be completely healthy and back on track and it's staring to happen.
Athletic profile:
In 2018, I debuted in my first major championships which was the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Australia. Despite it being my first major, I became a 100-metre finalist, which was a big step forwards in my career. Also, in 2017, I was awarded silver (100 metres) and bronze (200 metres) medals at the World Junior Championships, Switzerland. So far so good and I am willing to go through whatever it takes to make the transition from a para-athlete to a non-para-athlete. I say this because when my times do start to descend down and I surpass my classification (T38) world record, there will be a strong reason for the IPC to declassify me; something that they have already threatened to do. So I see this as a race against time, as well as an opportunity to experience big games as a para-athlete. I will then take this experience into the realm of able-bodied athletics.
Having been involved in athletics since I was only 8 years of age and becoming an international athlete at the age of 20 years is really a dream come true. I have been training for athletics my whole life. I have endured a rocky road in my athletic career due to illness but this hasn’t perturbed me, which shows the dedication I have to reach the top of my sport.
Education
I am a Sport Sciences student studying at one of the best universities in London: Brunel University London. I have had two very successful years at the university and will be finishing off my final year in 2018/19. I wish to also gain a scholarship in the USA to study a PHD in sports science.
