Personal Statement
The magical thing about running is that it gives you tons of time to meditate about your motivations and your aspirations. For instance, I often think about how high school has been constantly teaching me so many great things that I put into use everyday inside and outside the track. I carry the lessons of camaraderie every time I cheer for my teammates and every time I run with them. I carry the lessons of self-discipline everyday, every weekend, and every break as I continue to work out while countless others chose to stay in their cozy abode. I carry the knowledge that I’ve gathered from my mentors, friends, books, and online forums when I start to question if what I’m doing is the correct choice.
These lessons helped me arrive to the Mexican Youth Olympics last year where I placed 7th in the 3,000 meters during my spring season after racing the State and Regional Championships where I placed 1st in both. These lessons will continue to help me as I look forward to a great season this spring where I’ll start to focus on the 5,000 meters. However, I’ve yet to learn many valuable things. That’s why I am l striving to continue learning in a college where I can run with a team where camaraderie is present and can continue to improve as a student and athlete by continuing to learn new lessons everyday.
