Personal Statement
My name is Dan Nguyen, I am an Australian Citizen looking to fulfil his dream of being a collegiate athlete.
I started my athletics journey during my sophomore year of high school. This is where I fell in love with the sport and claimed 1st in shot put and 2nd in discus at the Western Australian Schools Competition (Div 1), also breaking the school record (previously held by Australian javelin thrower Jackson Hamilton). In my Senior year, I claimed 2nd in shot put and discus and 3rd in the hammer throw in the Western Australian Track and field championships. Which then I was later selected to represent Western Australia in at the Australian track and field championships, where I placed 9th in shot put in the under 20 age group.
During my senior year I was given the opportunity to learn and train from world renowned coach Didier Poppe (Trained the world champion Valerie Adams and U20 and U18 world record holder Jacko Gill).
I am interested in competing at the collegiate level after high-school to continue my athletics career. While my goals to compete professionally after college, I also hope one day to pursue my curiosity in machine learning and generative AI. Furthermore, I was part of the High Performance Leaning program at my school and maintained over a 95 ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank).
Thank you for reading my profile. I hope to build relationships with you and the coaching staff in the near future!
Kind Regards,
Dan
