Personal Statement
My name is Shawn. I compete in the Triple Jump for my club Blackheath & Bromley Harriers and my university, Brunel University in London and at the national level, for Wales, UK. My current personal best jump is 14.98m (49.15ft). I am a second-year student studying Biomedical Sciences (BSc with honours) with a GPA of 3.4. I am a co-captain and treasurer for the track team.
For the 2022-23 seasons, I improved my jump from 14.03m to 14.98, with more improvements yet to come. I am looking for a team that will help me continue the trajectory on which I am, and I believe your team will be best placed for me to do that. I have a goal to compete in the European u23 championships in 2025 and the Commonwealth games for Wales in 2026. In 2023, I finished 3rd in British University Championships (BUCS) in triple jump, became Welsh Champion, and medalled once again at British U23 championships coming 3rd.
This indoor season I have improved my indoor PB from 14.21m to 14.87m with the goal of increasing much more outdoors as I did the previous year. I became indoor Welsh Triple jump champion adding to the outdoor title I received last year. Aside Triple Jump, I began my campaign of 60m for the first time properly in which I ran a personal best time of 6.89s improving from last year’s 7.23s.
