I am now registered on the NCAA eligibility centre and my ID is: 1611656032
It has always been my dream to secure a track scholarship to the US. I am a tenacious, hard-working character with a hunger for hard work and success. I aspire to study physiotherapy or sports science while at the same time improving my running at the same time. I believe that I would be a strong asset to any College/University due to my willingness to sacrifice my comfort zones in order to pursue my dream of a student-athlete lifestyle in the us. Not only this but I believe with my current academic status and other qualifications such as England Athletics assistant coach, I could offer the community and college more than my athletic and academic prowess. I firmly believe I would be a benefit to any College track team and to the college overall.
Academically, I have been noted as one of the brightest students in the year and have achieved many other qualifications such as my Level 2 Community Sports Leadership Award. As part of this, i have volunteered to help the main coach of the under 11 year old athletics group at my local club. I have a strong passion for helping other people which is echoed in my desire to study Physiotherapy or another related course.
In athletics terms, I believe I am far off my potential to be a top-class athlete. I have improved year on year in big leaps. Most noticeably, i realised my 1500m prowess in 2015 when i sliced a huge 20 seconds from the 2014 season (admittedly i had an achilles injury for around 2 months that season). Already in the 2-3 years i have taken athletics seriously I have represented my county over a wide variety of disciplines such as 800m, 3000m and cross country. During this time, i have ran at 4 National Inter-County cross country races. As well as this, i have been a valuable member of the County School's cross country and track teams. I have now run at 3 English School Championships over cross country and have had many top performances at a regional schools level.
However, I would personally mark my best performances of my running career so far at the English Schools Championships. Not only was I one of the youngest in the age group, I was nominated team captain of my County and won my tactical heat - in which I beat the 2015 World Youth 5th place 1500m runner. In the final on tired legs I ran a 2 second PB of 3:56 which was a negative split to finish 5th. This was way more than I expected as I was only ranked 20th out of 22 entered athletes that qualified for the championships.
In 2015 i found myself running at the Indoor national champs and even setting an overall PB in the 800m. In this event, i finished 2nd in my heat to the eventual winner however did not progress to the final due to harsh qualification requirements. From this event I got to the summer season and in my second outdoor race i sliced 3 seconds off of my personal best. After this I went to the same championships as 2013 and decided to go for the 1500m with a hope that my 800m speed would pay dividends in a tactical affair. To my relief, i pretty comfortably qualified in a new Pb of 405.16. The next day I came 8th in the final running 405.13. Not only was it late season and a massive PB, it happened just one day after i returned from Mexico and i was jet lagged.
Although the earliest i can start college is 2017 fall, i am keen to get involved and started in the process of securing an athletics scholarship in the US.
