Personal Statement
I have been training track and filed for almost nine years. In my last year of junior high school, I set a goal for my self- compete in NCAA track and filed. Because the sport environment and academic opportunity are better than what I can have in Taiwan. Furthermore, I was really admire my senior study abroad and competing in NCAA D1 track and filed right now.
The reason why I want to be a student-athlete instead of being a normal student is that I can learn how to be a better leader, do better in time management, and be more self-disciplined by pushing myself. As an athlete, I enjoy feeling myself growing everyday.
In 7th grade, I was selected to study in the school’s athletic specialized program. During that time, I was under pressure from my two coaches and my class teacher. Because they really think highly of me. I got a really great academic record and track performance at that time. But mentally, I wasn’t feeling well during that year. I felt my motivation for the track was decreased. Every day my coach trained me harder, it decreased faster. Finally, I transferred to another school.
I took a break from training for three months. When the new semester started, I competed in 100 meters competition in my new school. I finished in the 1st place. At that time, all my passion from the track was suddenly coming back. Then, I started to search all of the training programs on the website. Most of the articles are written in English. But I was not really good at English at that moment. So, I decided to self-learning. In my 9th grade, my friends introduced me to a sports science training club called “Sportsline”. That is the first time I lifted and trained with a professional conditioner.
I trained with two foreign coaches (Coach Cody Croasmun and Coach Nicholas Trenkamp) for one and half years in Peak Force. I had a really great experience with them. I confirm that American style of training benefits me and empowers me to approach my goals.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA. I also volunteer to join student council.
I am the captain of track and field team in junior high school and senior high school.
