Wesley Shaw '19 Recruiting Profile

I first became interested in throwing shot put and discus my 7th grade year.  I started throwing and realized that I could throw pretty far for my age group.  I became very interested in knowing more about the sport and wanting to continue to throw as I get into high school.   As a freshman I made it to the state finals and took 9th in shot put and 4th in discus.  My sophomore year took 3rd in shot put and 7th in discus.  I have learned that hard work, confidence in myself and focus on the sport pays off in the end.  I love the challenge of the indivudual sport as well as being part of a team.  I have learned that I am never satisfied with my throws.  I am always challenging myself to throw farther.   

I feel that these qualities that I have found in myself would be a good match to a college that would continue to strengthen and develop me as a track thrower.
