Hello, my name is Connor Byrd. I live in Central Kentucky and will begin my Senior year at Campbellsville High School in Campbellsville, KY in August 2022. Both of my parents and my sister have worked as healthcare professionals in various healthcare organizations. Higher education is very important to me and my family. I am currently ranked as one of the top students in my graduating class at Campbellsville High School and have maintained a 4.00 GPA throughout my high school career. I am looking forward to my next steps of choosing a college that will be the best fit for me to continue my education.
I started running Cross Country and Track & Field during my Junior year of high school. Prior to my Junior year, I played on the middle schools and junior varsity basketball teams at the schools where I was enrolled. When I was a freshman in high school, I had a Strength & Conditioning coach who pushed me to get my body in the best physical shape for basketball season. I dedicated myself to running independently everyday and discovered my passion for distance running. As a Junior at Campbellsville High School, I wanted to try running competitively and joined Cross Country and Track & Field teams. During my first year of running competitively, I qualified to at the KY Class A State Cross County Meet. In addition, I have consistently improved my times in all of the distance events I have ran. As I enter my Senior year at CHS, my goal is to continue to improve my individual times and be a positive role model and leader on the XC and T&F teams as well as in the classroom.
When looking for a college to attend, I want to find a school with a great student atmosphere. I want to find a school where student-athletes have strong academic support and coaches that are committed to my athletic and academic success. Ideally, I want to be a part of a XC and T&F program where I have the opportunity to compete as a college Freshman and contribute to the team. I am also looking for a committed coaching staff that is invested in the long-term success of their XC and T&F program and the academic success of their team. Academically, I have not decided on an area of study, but I am interested in schools that have academic programs in Forensic Science, Political Science, and Business.
