I started my running career in elementary school joining the school’s running group. I have been playing sports all of my life but by the time I got to high school, I decided running is where I belong and where I feel I am best. I am a very dedicated and a committed athlete. I have been able to drop my 5k PR by 1 minute from 8th to 9th grade year and close to another minute from 9th to 10th grade. I am also very committed and dedicated to get better at track. 2019-2020 season was my first year running track. In my first track indoor meet I set the second best time for the indoor 800 meter race in school history. The season stopped there as a result of the corona virus. I have made personal goals for the remainder of my high school career for running. For track, I want to set the school record for the 800m dash and I'm confident I will be able to achieve that. I am also striving to win a state championship in the 800 meter dash. For the team event in track, I have set a similar goal: to set a new school record in the 4x800 and bring home a state championship. For cross country, my goals are to drop close to another minute to hit the mid 18 minute mark for a 5k and I am training daily to win a state championship as well. After high school, I am pushing myself to run in college.
I plan to major in virtual design while attending college. I have taken two design classes in high school thus far and enjoy the aspects that come with those. I succeed in the classroom by staying on top of my demanding class studies. I challenge myself within the school setting by enrolling in both honor classes as well as AP courses. I am apart of the gifted and talented program at my school as well, allowing teachers to form lesson plans to speak to my strengths.
I think I am a good candidate because of my determination. I work harder than most my age to progressively get better. I hate losing and become frustrated when I am beat by other competition. I always push myself to strive within my sport and work hard every day. I also push my team to become stronger because I believe team success as a whole outweighs those of an individual.
