I have always been very involved in athletics and academics. I’ve taken challenging classes in school, especially challenging math and science classes. I recently discovered a love for physics and engineering and want to further my education in these fields. Athletically, I played baseball and soccer at a very young age and continued to play competitive soccer all through high school. However, at the start of my spring sports season in high school I started Track and Field. I instantly loved the sport and long distance running because of the excitement of racing and the relationships I formed with the people I was running with. In my freshman and sophomore years I qualified for regionals. In my junior year I tried Cross Country for the first time and did well enough to make it to states as an individual as well as with my team. I also was named to my county's First Team, All-County Cross Country team. In my junior year of track I was also able to qualify for states and was recognized as a team captain. I loved running from the moment I started. Running has taught me how to push through pain. I have learned how to be a better teammate and cheer for my team. Often I find myself congratulating another team on a good run. As a captain I learned how to become more of a leader and be encouraging. Even though running is both a physically and mentally demanding sport I have never stopped enjoying it. I would love to run in college to continue to improve as an athlete and become a better person, as well as learn valuable skills for a career.
