When I first struck success in the sport of cross country throughout middle school, I knew I would want to pursue it as my athletic passion. Being the fastest runner on my current team, I seem to act as a role model to the less experienced runners. Leading stretches and warm ups at practices and meets, as well as keeping a positive attitude outside of competitions dates, promotes my leadership to the next level. Although the setting may change if I continue to the collegiate level, I will not take the sport any less seriously than I do now. I believe I do a good job of balancing school work and my athletics, and my high grades definitely show it. My goal for my senior year is to hold the official title as team captain. As captain or not, I will continue to try my absolute hardest throughout the season to improve as much as possible and to contribute to any of our team's successes.
I am not trying to be recruited because I need to do so to go to college, but because running is a passion of mine that I want to take beyond high school.
