My name is Gabe Smith, and I have a goal to be a collegiate level thrower while I gain a degree in engineering, but my bigger goal is to be an Olympic level thrower. A few things that make me a good candidate for your team are: I support and encourage teammates as well as my competitors, I am an active listener, I push myself daily to be the best that I can be and take criticism as opportunities to prove myself , and I set goals and prioritize them to consistently improve. My coaches tell me that I have a drive to succeed that is unmatched by others. I place tremendous value on academics and I aspire to gain knowledge in everything that I do. Everyone will say the characteristic that makes them stand out is the desire to compete. But here's the thing, I have that. I have it by the truckload. But I want to compete against the best day in and day out. I want my teammates and competitors to be at their best so each day our hunger will grow and push each other. I don't always have to win, but when I do it's because I pushed everyone around me to prepare harder, dive deeper, and outwork whoever stands in their way. That win is the true win.
