Personal Statement

My name is Adam Boike.  I am 5 foot, 10 inches tall and currently weigh 160 pounds as I get ready for my senior season of football. My goal is to attend college to earn a degree that combines both math and design. My desire is to play college sports while gaining a superior education. My most important track accomplishment would be winning the 800 meter run at the Oakland County Freshman Meet. Two years later I can still remember the sense of accomplishment I felt. The second greatest track accomplishment would also be from my freshman year. I was a member of the varsity 4x800M relay team on and off throughout the year filling in whenever needed. As it came down to the end of the season, a senior and I were battling for the last spot on the team. My times were dropping dramatically and I had a faster time by about a second. Being a freshman I was not surprised when the coach put the senior on the relay instead of me. Although I did not run a leg in the race when our team crossed the line second, I was just as excited as they were. To this day I still keep in touch with my teammates and I consider them some of my closest friends. This past spring was my first year as an upper classman and due to the lack of senior leadership, I took it upon myself to lead the team. My Junior year started off strong with times that I had not started with in years prior. After about three weeks I developed a muscle strain which restricted my running for the next couple weeks until I physically could not compete anymore. At that point I felt like I had let my team down and even more so my relay team. We had aspirations of making it to states and being competitive. Although I was restricted from running I was not restricted from leading, I attended every practice and every meet until the season ended supporting my friends and encouraging them to give it their all. When I think of an ideal geographical location where I would want to live for college I am open minded. I don't have a specific location where I want to attend school. As far as population goes, I would want to attend a school with a larger population. My desired major is Architecture and my second choice would be any field of engineering. Overall, any technical degree that goes hand in hand with my artistic ability and math skills would appeal to me. My athletic goals are to improve on my previous successes in every sport. I want to constantly improve in all aspects of my athletics. Particularly in track, I want to complete a healthy season and earn all-state honors for the 800 meter run. I would like to have the opportunity to compete in a collegiate level of track. I believe that my athletic ability as well as my good work ethic will allow me to surpass expectations.
