I seek an opportunity on the collegiate level to run for a program that will push me to a level I thought would never be possible, all the while encouraging the commitment to excellence I hold myself to in the classroom. Unlike many runners who seek to compete for a collegiate running team, I have only been running for 1.5 years. Although I have always been a high level, nationally recognized athlete, it was in the sport of tennis that I achieved a national junior USTA ranking of 86. A combination of injuries and burnout drove me away from tennis and into the world of distance running. I first began to run for peace of mind and mental rehabilitation, but soon realized I enjoyed the mental and physical challenge running presented, and I found out I was pretty good at it too. Since I am so new to distance running, I am very excited to see how good I can get with 2-3 years of excellent collegiate coaching and a supportive team to run with.
In the classroom, I have challenged myself with college level classes in spanish and biology, as well as AP classes in literature and the humanities. I aspire to get a job in one of the health sciences, and know the college I attend will put me well on my path to achieving that goal. Spiritually, I seek to continue on my path to redemption via my lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
