I just want the opportunity to run longer. I had so little time in highschool, having lost my first two years of competition. Along with having lost two years, I just recently discovered how much I love the 400 meter dash this last season. I cannot believe how much I enjoy racing and training for the event.
I think what separates me from my fellow athletes is my commitment this off season. From the end of my school season in June, I have been training 3-5 times a week consistently without my coach, doing research and helping a couple of my teammates along as well. I have grown so much as an athlete in these last 3 months of training my teammates, it has given me a new angle on how to improve my own skills and how athletics affects someone.
I am an honors student in school, taking as many honors classes as I can, and I plan to continue this academic attitude into college.
With my strict training plan, and specific weight training, I think I will improve drastically in the upcoming season.
