I am currently a senior at Madison Ridgeland Academy in Madison, MS. I run both XC and track. In track, I have run the 3200, 1600, and 800. I have also run on the 4x800 relay. I would like to keep running in college when I graduate in 2017.
I ran varsity XC in 8th grade, earning “All Region” distinctions and placed 38th in the MHSAA State Cross Country Meet in 6A (the highest class in public schools in the state of Mississippi).
In 9th grade, I finished in 6th place in the Cross Country State Meet for MAIS AAA (the highest class in private schools in the state of Mississippi), earning “All State” distinctions. For 9th grade track, I ran on the junior high team for most of the year where I won most 3200, 1600 and 800 events I competed in. When I moved up to varsity, I finished first in the 1600 in the North State Meet and 4th place in the State Meet helping my team win first place and second place respectively. I set personal records at the State Meet in both the 1600 (4:53) and the 3200 (10:33).
During my sophomore year, I was able to contribute to my track team winning an overall State Championship and did so by coming in second place in the 1600m with a PR of 4:44. This was the first time in school history that MRA won the overall State Championship.
During my junior XC season, I won 8 of the 9 statewide races I competed in. I also ran in the Memphis Twilight, a regional race, where I placed 55th out of 386 runners in the varsity boys division. My 5K PR for the season was 17:34. I achieved my PR in the 3200 during spring 2016 with a 10:22 during the state meet.
I take honor and AP classes and work hard to balance athletics and academics. At this time, I am not sure what I want to study in college. I am interested in looking at different universities, regardless of geography or size.
