I began participating in sports when I was three years old and my mother signed me up for soccer. I immediately fell in love with the sport and knew that I wanted to be involved in it for many years to come. Each season taught me new skills and provided me with the type of happiness that couldn’t be found anywhere else. In an effort to stay fit for soccer, I began running and discovered that I truly enjoyed it, so I began competing on the cross country and track teams. Competing in sports has helped me to overcome many obstacles in my life, including the challenges of a learning disability and epilepsy. I’ve learned that I can accomplish anything I set my mind on, with focus and dedication. I also believe that having an extremely supportive family, as my personal cheering squad, has helped me to accomplish the goals I set for myself.
I plan to complete high school with a 3.5 GPA or higher, then continue to college, where I will study architecture or marine biology. I would love to attend one of my dream schools, which drives me to maintain my grades, as well as improve upon them. By being involved with organizations such as Boy Scouts of America, Kappa League and the STEM National Youth Leadership Conference, I have gained knowledge about myself, refined my leadership skills and been able to fulfill my love for serving my community. I strive to be the best that I can be in all areas of my life, but particularly when it involves my academic career and the sports I participate in.
