My greatest accomplishment during my high school career is my sixth-place finish in the 3200m during my sophomore year. However, the season leading up to that race is not the most I have grown as an athlete. My passion for running started early when I was placed with the throwers at practice in seventh grade. From that moment on, I have used grit and determination to become the athlete I am today because even if I wasn’t seen as a distance runner I was determined to go through any obstacle and become one. That moment has ultimately translated into my accomplishments and improvements were seen today. Thankfully, with a successful program and amazing coach, I have learned what commitment and passion can translate into.
The improvement I have been able to accomplish over the years can only testify that my fifth-place finish at state is one of my greatest accomplishments. Whether that means running a 6:08 in the mile my seventh-grade year to a 4:59 my eighth-grade year. Or running a 17:34.7 in my first cross country season as a sophomore to the 16:39.5 I ran this year as a junior. I want to continue this massive improvement to the collegiate level because through my determination and passion I know I can overcome any obstacle and continue improving at the sport I love.
