Throughout college I want to push myself to be the like the people I grew up respecting. I want to become my own hero, my old role model. Over the last couple of years I have discovered what hard work can really do for a person. In college, my athletic goal is to be a competitor in everything I do. I also want to lead my team into competition. I want to become an example to those around me as I compete. Whether that is on relay teams, solo events, or even practices. Being a follower has never been in my nature. My goals academically are similar. Following a pre-med undergrad, my goal is to be a top medical school graduate so that I have options in my career. Neither of these goals are achievable by following others quietly.
From 2016- 2018 I struggled gaining a passion for anything. I lost my passion for soccer and for school. I thought everything in life should be easy and if it wasn't, I stopped trying. My grades suffered and so did my athletic ability. I was at a low point and was having trouble climbing out. Near the end of 2018 I started track for the first time. I wasn't great immediately, heck, I wasn't even good. But track did something for me that nothing had been able to do. It reignited the flame of passion inside me. I climbed my way out of that low point and began to test myself and my ability academically and athletically. My work ethic and drive separate me from others like me because I have seen my low point. I know what I am fighting to stay away from and what I'm pushing towards in the future.
