My name is John(Jack) Harris and I love playing sports. During my freshman I decided to try pole vaulting and I immediately fell in love with it, I couldn’t want until school was over so that I could practice. I eventually was able to start jumping in meets and ended the season with a 7’6 jump. My sophomore year I became more competitive and PRd by 2 feet jumping 9’6 which qualified me for the New Hampshire DII state meet. This last year was my Junior year and I worked very hard all season, I was the last one at practice most days and came in on extra days to get more practice in. I often drove a short 1.5 hours down to a clinic in Massachusetts to get more coaching and improve my technique. I ended up PRing by another 2 feet and jumped 11’6 at the NH DII state meet placing 2nd. I then qualified for the Meet of Champions and was just short of qualifying for the New England Meet. I believe that my attitude, commitment, and desire to improve is what will make me a great college athlete.
