Hello, my name is Yafet Dawit; I started throwing shot put and discus the winter of my junior year. At first, it was a hobby, but it quickly turned into a passion and something that I want to be the best in. I've put countless hours into form and in the weight room, so that each time I would step into the circle, I had no doubts in my abilities. My Squat max is 510, my bench press max is 255, my deadlift max is 485, my hang clean max is 245, and I have a 29.5 inch vertical. I wish to attend a great academic school that would test and enable me to better myself both on the field and in the classroom. I understand that I am a student-athlete and student comes first, I always put school first because I want to be known for more than a discus thrower but for being a great student and person. I aspire to study engineering and be the top in my respective field.
I treat everything I’m part of very seriously and dedicate numerous hours to what I am part of. My goal isn’t just to better myself when I am on a team but to strengthen my teammates and enable them to their goals. Athletics comes down to whether or not you are willing to put in the hours it takes to reach your goal and be the best in your respective sport. What you do off of the circle and in your off-season greatly affects the outcome at the end of a meet. Whether you are willing to stretch for the extra thirty minutes after your workout can greatly affect your performance come to meet time. In school, I study hard and make sure I know the material so that when I take the test I am worry-free. Preparation is the most important part of sports and I think that it greatly affects how you perform both in the circle and in the classroom.
