Hello, my name is Brandon Heinz; I've been throwing the javelin since my freshman year in high school. What first started out as a hobby, quickly turned into a passion and something that I would strive to be the best in. I've put countless hours into form and physical ability, so that each time I would step into the runway, there were no worries in my mind. The way I prepare for throwing the javelin is mirrored in my academics. Organization and being prepared for everything in life is the key to success. I wish to attend a highly academic and challenging school that would test and enable me to better myself both on the field and in the classroom. I aspire to study Physical Therapy and be able to help athletes that have gone through an injury return to their sport in the quickest manor possible.
I treat everything I’m part of very seriously and dedicate numerous hours into what I am part of. My goal isn’t just to better myself when I am on a team, but to strengthen my teammates and enable them to achieve goals they previously wouldn’t be able to achieve. I train my teammates for the reason that everybody can achieve so much more than they think they could, but need someone else to show them their true ability in order for them to try and accomplish goals they previously thought were unreachable. Athletics comes down to whether or not you are willing to do whatever it takes to reach your goal and be the best on the field. What you do off of the field and in your off season greatly affects the outcome at the end of the meet. Whether you are willing to stretch and cool down for the extra thirty minutes after your workout or skip it could be the foot difference that you lost by. I prioritize the important and undermined aspects of javelin and make it paramount that I am able to adjust to any situation I am put into. This enables me to be easily coached and able to correct mistakes extremely fast and with precision. I am also able to adjust swiftly in the classroom. When I am finished working out, I hit the books and start to prepare for the next day at school. I study hard and make sure I know the material, so that when I take the test I am worry free. Preparation is the key to success and I firmly believe that you have won or lost, before you step into the runway and you have passed or failed, before you step into the classroom.
