2018 HighlightsI found my passion for track & field sophomore year, unlike many of my peers and competitors who found it a year earlier. I joined track when a trackie persuaded me to join; since, I have been absolutely engrossed in the sport. Throughout the years, I motivated myself to break my personal records. During my first year, I was running high 12sec 100m and 27sec 200m. I did not quit. I was determined to bring my times down and I did. I came back my junior year running 11.7sec 100m and a 25sec 200m. The slight improvement was not enough; I was determined to improve further. I joined a gym to increase my strength through compound lifts like the squat, bench-press and deadlift, in order to train and push myself to my potential. When I wasn't at the gym, I was on the track fixing my form, determined to blow my senior year out of the park. My current goal is 11.2sec 100m and 22-23sec 200m.
In these few years, I have competed and learned so much from the experiences and situations of my running career. For example, before track I was always all over the place I was disorganized and late to everything. But, after all the rigorous training and hard work, running has given me discipline and a hard work ethic which has translated to my everyday life. I am thankful.
