Hello Coaches, my name is Grant Foray and I am a middle distance runner for Wayne Valley High School. This is just my second season running track and I have already seen huge improvements from my first season. I started off as a sprinter, running the 200 and 400 meter dashes competitively during my spring track season in 2016. As a sophomore my personal bests in these events were 24.1 and 54.1. My coaches urged me to do cross country in the summer, and I did. I ran a personal best of 17:18 at Darlington Park and was our number one runner on our cross country team. At the start of my junior season, my coach moved me up to running the 800 and 1600 meter races, saying I had more potential in these races than the 200 and 400. I have made huge improvements, going from 2:13 all the way down to 2:03 in the 800. As well as 5:02 to 4:46 in the 1600. I won the conference championship for the individual 800, as well as fifth in the county,as I am now one of the most improved runners in my area. It is nice to look back at my success and what I have done, but I still want more. I will continue to work tirelessly day in and day out because I feel that I am just scratching the surface of my true potential.
In a college I want a school that perfectly fits my needs academically and athletically. I have a knack for public speaking and I have good leadership skills which I feel will be critical to my success in the future. Although I don't know what I want to major in for sure yet, I want a college that will enhance my strengths as a person as well as my weaknesses. I will be a good fit to your team due to my work ethic, leadership skills and patience. I know I won't reach my goals overnight, but I am willing to work day after day to make it happen.
