I wanted to earn a computer science degree because throughout most of my life, I played video games and I was fascinated by how the game would operate. Also, most of my friends are very interested in computer science, so I've been curious about computer science for a while now. Due to playing video games for most of my life, I wasn't thinking about exercising until I decided to begin my running career in 8th grade. My cross country season didn't go well, as expected, since I was far from being in shape and I wasn't passionate about running. I didn't want to continue running after 8th grade because of my addiction to video games, but my parents forced me to continue running in high school. I forced myself to run through cross country season during freshman year and I was thinking of the same for track, but I surprised myself in the first meet that sparked my passion that I have for running. After that first meet, I've been putting in the work to continue to improve each year. My first time I raced in cross country during my freshman year was 23:45 and now my current PR is 15:49. I will continue to improve and challenge myself everyday to achieve the goals I set for myself each year. Despite having COVID in January, my confidence hasn't been affected as I want to be a role model and inspiration for my younger teammates to improve every year even if those improvements are small. For college, I want to continue my running career and I want to meet the team and have fun doing so. I'm never a quitter, I'm always curious about something I've never done and I will continue to increase my work ethic every semester and season.
