I am looking for a college where I can pursue my interests in mathematics/economics and distance running in both cross country and track and field, where I may be more suited for the longer 5K and 10K distances. I began running fall cross country and spring track for Croton Harmon High School at the beginning of my freshman year, while playing basketball in the winter. By junior year, I made a greater commitment to running and gave up basketball to run winter indoor track. By my junior year cross country season, I won the league championship, placed 3rd in NY state Section 1 Class C, and 16th overall Class C in the NY State meet. I improved most particularly over the challenging Bowdoin Park course in NY, improving a full 69 seconds and also improving from a 66th to 6th place finish at the Manhattan College Invitational meet. Likewise, during spring track 2018 I improved 18 seconds in the 1600m and 51 seconds in the 3200m. This sharp improvement brought me to the state meet where I placed 13th in the Federation 3200m with a time of 9:35. My hard training this summer going into senior year, supplemented by attending the Nike Green Mountain Running Camp, has again now yielded significant improvement from the 2017 cross country season and I am proud to have achieved the # 1 NY State Class C performance at the 5K distance at the 5 week point of the season. My goal is to win the NY State Class C Meet this November.
Currently I'm engaged in a very challenging curriculum with 3 rigorous AP classes this senior year and I hope to pursue athletics in college as a valuable sidelight to my academic pursuits.
