Nigel Walker '12 Recruiting Profile

Athletics has been a passion of mine ever since I was three years old. It has strongly impacted my life, and the very beginnings of my athletic career started off with soccer. I am very skillful in this and have been always the quickest on the field. With my height at 5'8" weighing 140 pounds coaches always have had me play the midfield position which requires both speed and endurance. My body type is perfect for those specific attributes, which allow me to be successful in track and field. I started track and field in my Freshman year in High school, running middle distance events and the triple jump. In one of the trials at practice I found out that I had the gift of hurdling. This started my adventure in the 400 hurdles, that then became my main event. I have been having success with the event starting with the earning of 1st team all county during my sophomore, and then competing in the USATF National Junior Olympics in the 400 hurdles and triple jump. In a team context, I can give it my all and make sacrifices necessary for the benefit of the team. Not only am I a strong athlete, but also a good student. I've been in the academic merit and high honor roll classifications throughout my high school career. In addition, I am currently a candidate for the rigorous International Baccalaureate Diploma. When I start university , I plan to pursue a pre-med program, and hopefully someday work in the medical field. In terms of what school I want to attend , I'm very flexible in my options. However, my preferences are a large school, Ivy league academic level, within the north eastern region of the country.
