Garrett Backus '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Garrett Backus and I am an 18 year old Junior at Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling, New York. For the past 9 years, my family has been living in Ithaca, NY. At TP, I play Varsity Football (elected Captain this year), play Basketball and prior to the 2021 season played with the Varsity Baseball Program. Encouraged by one of my football coaches, I stopped playing baseball in 2021 in order to pursue my love for sprinting. As such, I began my Varsity Track career in 2021 to which I was also elected Captain. I realize I may not have years of formal training and experience that others may have, but you can trust me when I say that I am a COMPETITOR. I strive not only to be the greatest leader to my teammates and fellow classmates, but when I step on a track, in the weightroom or into the classroom, my mindset is to never be outworked by anyone; and, thanks to this mindset and work ethic I have been able to show great improvement in every aspect of life. I can't wait to hit the blocks this spring.
