My name is Declan Rohr, I have been pole vaulting since the 6th grade. Pole vaulting is a legacy in my family. My father and older brother pole vaulted in high school, and my younger brother currently pole vaults in high school.
I like the pole vault event because it's an individual sport, yet you gain points for your team. I like to challenge myself with a new height goal every year and gradually work towards my goal by practicing and competing indoor in the winter.
I like to hunt and fish and look forward to competing in Mens Track and Field in college. I would like to also consider playing football if there is a college that would allow me to manage my time efficiently.

- The University of Akron track and field program will host the Seventh-Annual Pole Vault Convention at Stile Athletics Field House on January 11, 2020. The event is designed to be an all-inclusive pole vault experience for athletes, coaches and parents and will feature classroom sessions, learn-by-doing clinics, and competitions. Instructors will include world-class coaches and vaulters, in addition to top collegiate and club coaches from the region.
