My desire to run and compete started back in middle school. I ran 5Ks for fun with my family and friends and realized I was really good at them when I started finishing in the top runners. I finished 3rd place in the state meet my 8th grade year. Running has become a part of my life. It has helped guide my competitive and driven nature. I have run Varsity since my freshman year at Mason High School, one of the top running schools in Ohio, beginning with a third place finish for Mason in my first high school race.
My strongest assets would be how driven I am and how I persevere. I push myself to meet my full potential and I push my teammates to be the best that they can be. This is evident with a team appearance at the State Meet every year I have run, including a state championship title my junior year and a second place finish my freshman year. A great example of my perseverance was the end of my sophomore XC season. I unknowingly ran the Regional race on a broken hip. It wasn’t until I had only 100 meters left and I collapsed that I knew something was wrong. I suffered a break in the femoral neck that required surgery to repair. After my surgery, I was determined to work hard to come back even stronger than I was before, and did so.
With the injury and interest in other sports, I was only able to run track my Junior Year. During that time, I made it onto the Top 10 Leaderboard of all Time for my school in the 4X800 relay, 800 Open the 1600, and just missed the 3200 leaderboard by 2 seconds. I know that my senior year I will be able to solidify even more of those records. I train to run year round, both with my team and own my own.
My goal is to run at an NCAA Division I school and run to my fullest potential. I would like to major in Psychology/ Sports Therapy as I have been inspired to help athletes who have experienced injury and are motivated to get back into their sport to become better than ever.
