Devin Marsh '25 Recruiting Profile

I am a student and thrower at Shelby High School in Shelby, Ohio. During the school day, I currently divide my time between Shelby High School and Pioneer Career and Technology Center.  As a student in high school, my focus includes academics, music, track and field, and the weight room. I have been doing track and field since eighth grade throwing both discus and shot put while also beginning to learn hammer and weight throw in high school. At Pioneer, my course of study is Information Technology Support.  My goal is to continue to grow academically and athletically through persistent education, training, and experience.  

In developing my throwing skills throughout my career I have also received additional training alongside my own.  I train on my own at home over the off-season.  I have also received coaching and training from Northwest Ohio Throws Academy Coach Justin Carvalho since the summer of 2022 to advance my form and distance further. I have also been in the weight room to build the needed strength.

Alongside my school activities, I also hold a part-time job.  I work at Best Buy in Ontario, Ohio.  I am also the section leader for the alto section in our high school band.  I am a part of the marching, pep, and symphonic bands.  

In the classroom, I have been able to maintain a 3.0+  GPA during my high school career while taking honors classes.  During my senior year, I will again split my time at Shelby High School and Pioneer CTC, plus I will be taking College-Credit Plus classes through North Central State College in Mansfield, Ohio.  This will be challenging, but it will help prepare for the rigors and discipline needed for college.

My goal is to attend a college where I will feel the desire to push myself in the classroom and the throwing ring. Role models, peers, and teammates will help.  Certainly, I will give back to them and more. My focus academically is IT Support and Cybersecurity.
