My name is Collin Carpenter and I am a senior at Broken Arrow High School located at Broken Arrow, OK. I started running with my family in organized runs in our city. I knew that I wanted to run in high school after completing a half marathon in 2014. As a sophomore, I started running for Broken Arrow High School. Through hard work and training, I have been able to reduce my running times by minutes in a few short years.
Over the summer to start my senior year, I attended a cross country wilderness camp where the coaches worked with us on our individual running form, proper nutrition and various breathing techniques. I am committed to developing my body to its fullest potential by doing other activities that include swimming, biking and running outside of my scheduled school practices. I feel that this training is going to help me become a more rounded runner.
I want you to know that you can count on me to be there for my coaches and my team. I believe that my training begins and ends with me and that I will put in the dedication and determination that is needed to make success happen for us.
I am interested in majoring in Business or a similar major where I can use the education and skills that I will learn to give back to the community. I would consider it a privilege to pursue my education and to be able to run as a college athlete.
