My goal is to throw for a track and field team in college at a university that will also provide academic preparation for the future. I throw both discus and shot put. This past season I placed 3rd in both events at the District level. I have confidence in my ability to achieve my goal for next year to win districts and compete at the State meet.
My confidence stems from my work ethic and passion for the sport. I've been a "gym rat" for as long as I can remember and I take pride in the physical strength I've gained over time. Previously I played football and I continue to wrestle, but throwing has allowed me to use my strength more uniquely with precise movements. I feel lucky to have found a sport where I enjoy training, competition, and comradery with both teammates and opponents.
I am a determined individual and avoid unnecessary distractions. I was named team captain in both Track & Wrestling as a sophomore, and I try my best to lead by example. My schedule is quite full between academics and being a dual sport athlete, however, I find that I thrive when I keep busy and remain focused.
I would like to continue on this trajectory by attending a college where I can be challenged academically and physically. I'm currently considering majors in Pre-pharmacy or Biology.
