Just like in pole vaulting, the bar I set for myself is constantly going higher. I started my Freshman year of high school never having pole vaulted and after being convinced to try it I fell in love. I started the season with a 9-6 jump and finished at districts with a clean 11-0. By my Senior year I want to be at 15-0, with college level competition holding unknown possibilities.
What would make me a great candidate for your team is that I'm never satisfied with where I am. Because of this, I'm always open to feedback from my coaches on where to improve.
I learned early in competition that you need to have fun and get enjoyment out of what you're doing. I've also realized that as part of the team I need to inspire others to do well, either on my team or not. I really want to encourage everyone to best themselves every time they go out to compete; even if that means besting me.
I've been a life long athlete having played soccer since I was 5 and started hitting the gym with my trainer at 12. I've dabbled in football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, martial arts and cross country. I regularly hike and mountain bike with my dad and our dog.
During Freshman year orientation we were told that Freshmen typically struggle academically their first year of high school. That triggered the competitiveness in me to shoot for principles list my freshman year. I succeeded in this for the first two marking periods and managed high honors my third period. I decided to tackle honors classes next year in both English and Algebra 2.
