I didn’t start running until my freshman year of high school when I joined the cross country team as a secondary sport besides baseball. It wasn’t until after my freshman season that I realized how much I loved it. Running makes me feel free and allows me to be myself. It has taught me to challenge myself and be persistent until the end. That’s when I stared putting in more miles and being determined to get better. From 9th grade to 10th grade my 5k dropped from 20:30 to 18:48, and I ran my first half marathon. I just ended my junior season, and reached my goal of qualifying for states. Running cross country in college would be a dream of mine, with prioritizing my academics. I want to earn my doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
I just made the difficult decision to quit baseball, the sport I have cherished since I was a young kid. Yes I will always love baseball, but I felt it was time to let it go. Now it’s time to roll into my first track season!
