My goals for running in college are to join a team where I can grow as a runner and maximize my talent and potential, which I feel like I have just barely scratched the surface of my abilities.
I feel like I am a great candidate to run for you for several reasons: First, I am a good teammate, and have been recognized by my coaches and other coaches as well. Examples include after finishing a race I am always at the finish line cheering the other runners (from all schools) and congratulate them until the last one crosses the line. I am always trying to help, support, and cheer on my teammates in anyway I can. Second, I am just scratching the surface. Due to being misdiagnosed and essentially not medicated for my disabilities (ADHD, ASD (high functioning)) my effort and attentiveness has been inconsistent at best. My senior year everything came to a head with me mentally which drastically effected my racing, and results. The first race that I truly had my head in and raced was our district meet as could be seen by my time. I am now properly diagnosed with effective medication and training hard with goals for the spring and moving forward. Example is I plan on starting the track season at or below 10:00 for the 3200 with progression to sub 9:30 by the end of the season. These are my goals for this year, but based on some advice I got I am finding joy in doing that which I am fashioned to do and know the results will follow. Run fast and far.
What makes me different is that which I discussed a bit ago. These challenges and my struggles through high school with myself and my grades have only made me stronger, building systems to make myself successful in the future, and being able to significantly contribute to your team.
