Hi! I'm Hayden Downs, currently a Sophomore in Nashville TN. I love track, it's one of the things that make me the happiest in the world. So far I've been training through the winter to prepare for the spring season. I had a revelation a while back that if this is going to be my dream, I better put in the grind, so that's what I'm doing. My plan is to train hard through the winter, have a great spring season and train hard up until the following year. I'll be enrolled in a weights class that'll improve my times so I'm excited about that. Even with my love of track I've maintained a balance of my interests. I'm in a community service club, Vice-president of my class, 1st Trumpet in my school Concert Band, in Model United Nations, etc. Some of my outside interests include collecting Vinyls, Snow-Skiing, Water Sports, and reading.
Now that I've laid out some basic facts about me, I'll get down to some of the harder questions. What would make me a good candidate for collegiate track? My answer is my drive. I take me drive for excellence into my academics, athletics, and personal life. I feel that I would thrive as a student-athlete. I'm ready to give my all for my team, to be pushed to my breaking point and defy what was thought to be possible for me.
All I need is for someone to give me a shot. I've heard so much from people that they wish that they had pushed on to find their dream instead of having to look back and wonder what could have been. It's my goal to find my dream, not look back on it. Regardless of the future, I will continue to love track and pursue my love of running for a lifetime.
