Personal Statement

My name is Zenock Larson. I have loved Cross Country and Track and Field since I started it. I come from a diverse background of schools as well as countries where I competed all around the world.

When I first joined Cross Country, it was on my team located in Vilseck, Germany. With that team I traveled all around Europe and competed in different XC races in places like Munich and Italy. It was a great experience and a hard experience. We had seven guys who did XC in total so I didn't have much of a team to lookup to and learn from. I then moved to Box Elder High School in Brigham City after that Cross Country season in Germany where I lived for five years. I have thrived on this Box Elder team since I moved here and had amazing freshman that I could lookup to my sophomore year of running.

What makes me a good candidate for your team is, again, the diverse background I come from. I have been all over and I have figured out many different techniques to handle stress and to run and prepare for races. I have learned how to work with a team and put them before yourself. Sometimes you have bad races, but as long as you let it roll off and you continue that is what matters the most. I have had a dream of running in college since 4th grade when I ran my first track race, the 400. I love running and being able to compete for something. I love being able to show my worth to others and out forth my very best effort that I can possible put forth. I love pushing my body to the absolute limits, knowing the pain I feel is just the beginning, I can get past it. Running is such an amazing stress reliever. Not only do I wanna compete for your team, but I have had many challenges while running. Having my grandparents both pass away in the same season and having friend move away and grow apart. Running is a way to express myself and it helps me get through even the hardest of things Running helps you feel better about things when they get rough. I want to continue running in college because I know I can give it my best effort! I can work together with others and achieve big things because of where I've been and want to go. Running is so much more than competing. It is a way to show your worth and let out stress.

I have been on the varsity team since my ninth grade year when I started XC. I ran a 18:23 for my first race. I got Underclassman of the year my sophomore year as well as Athlete of the year this Junior year of Cross Country I ran. I am currently the team captain for the Track team at Box Elder and I strive to help other runners get to where they want to and achieve their goals. I am a leader for my team and try to represent not only on the track, but off the track. I want to be on your team, because I know I can contribute and give it my absolute best in the sport on and off the track.
